New Patients

Medicare stipulates that for a patient to be seen by a specialist, the patient must have a referral from a General Practitioner for medicare rebate to be paid. If you do not have a referral you will have to pay the full consultation fee.

Fee Structure

Medicare does not completely cover the costs of your consultation as set by the Australian Medical Association. For this reason modest GAP payments are charged for all consultations.

Initial Consult $135.05
Medicare Rebate $75.05
GAP $60.00

It would be appreciated if you could settle the account on the day of consultation.

For most surgical procedures as long as you have private insurance the account is normally sent directly to your health fund and there is NO GAP to pay. However for some complex surgical procedures, including all Obesity procedures there will be a GAP to pay. This will be discussed with you prior to your surgery.

What to bring to your first appointment:

  1. Referral letter from your GP
  2. Medicare card
  3. Details of your private insurance
  4. A list of current medications
  5. Any relevant X-rays or Investigations
